Position Summary:

Provides athletic training services on an ongoing basis. Performs a wide variety of duties requiring specific knowledge of the clinic’s policies and procedures.

Position Key Accountabilities:

  1. Conducts patient’s post-operative appointments and performs post-operative procedures such as dressing changes and removal of sutures.

  2. Monitors patient’s care such as incisions and signs of Deep Vein Thrombosis.

  3. Conducts and educates patients on surgical procedures.

  4. Provide personal fitting and education on the use and care of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) with patients.

  5. Maintains clinical supplies for the department.

  6. Responsible for providing patient documentation.

  7. Liaison with Physical Therapy providers.

  8. Monitors patient’s physical therapy and evaluates further treatment as needed.

  9. Coordinates with Athletic Trainers and Coaching staff with area high schools, colleges, and universities regarding athlete care and rehabilitation.

  10. Responsible for updating the Department’s web site.

  11. Monitors and takes appropriate actions to maintain the department’s data base.

  12. Collects appropriate research documentation and assists with presenting the information to Athletic Trainers and Coaches.

  13. Maintains and assists in transporting patient charts.

  14. Responsible for providing technology based information for educational purposes.

  15. Performs other duties as assigned.

Certification/Skills:

Must have State of Texas Athletic Training Licensure.

Must have current certification in adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and/or certification for emergency medical services (EMS).

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Proficient in PowerPoint, Microsoft Office

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, athletic training or related field.

Minimum Experience:

Two years of experience as a Licensed Athletic Trainer.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or over 50 pounds frequently and /or over 20 pounds of force constantly to move object.

Security Sensitive:

This job class may contain positions that are security sensitive and thereby subject to the provisions of Texas Education Code § 51.215

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
