ASRC Federal Holding Company Cloud Cost Analyst (supporting NOAA) in Silver Spring, Maryland

Data Networks, Inc (DNC), a subsidiary of ASRC Federal Holding Company, is currently recruiting for a Cloud Cost Analyst to work alongside the federal Project Manager to support a federal government agency located in Silver Spring, MD.

The position will provide advice and guidance in NESDIS development of FinOps policies and governance to align Federal budget processes to FinOps Framework. It includes understanding Cloud Usage and Costs, Performance tracking and benchmarking, Real-time decision making, and Organizational alignment.

The duties for this role may include, but are not limited to:

  • Policy Development: Establish and enforce cloud cost management policies, guidance, and best practices across the organization.

  • Budget Management: Work closely with project teams to establish and manage cloud budgets, implement effective cost management and optimization strategies.

  • Continuous monitoring: Implement monitoring mechanisms to track cloud costs in real time and proactively address anomalies and deviations from spend plans.

  • Cost Analysis: Analyze cloud usage and cost trends, identify cost drivers, and provide actionable recommendations for cost optimization.

  • Forecasting: Collaborate with stakeholders to forecast future cloud usage and costs, providing insights in budget planning and resource allocation.

  • Reporting: Generate regular reports and dashboards to communicate cost-related insights, trends, and recommendations to management and relevant stakeholders.

  • Stay updated: Keep abreast of industry trends, new cloud services, and pricing models to ensure the organization remains cost effective and competitive.

Requirements :

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field plus 10 years' experience.

Essential Skills:

  • Strong understanding of cloud pricing, cost structures, and billing models.

  • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.

  • Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software.

  • Experience with cloud cost management tools.

  • Proficiency in Excel, Powerpoint and other Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred Experience:

  • Demonstrated ability to be a trusted advocate for the customer.

  • Knowledge of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) for Government

  • Certification in Cloud FinOps is a plus

  • Familiarity with NOAA Cloud processes and organizational structures a plus.

  • Existing knowledge of NESDIS satellite portfolio a plus.
