Summary of Position:

Our client, a leading full-service mechanical contracting company, is looking to hire a Senior Estimator for the Pittsburgh market. As a Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for cost estimating for projects based on the use of construction plans and industry knowledge. You will provide continuous monitoring of open bids, RFPs, and estimate assignments under the direction of the Estimating Manager.

Major Activities:

• Perform piping estimating take-off and recaps.

• Perform estimating duties from the time of the project’s introduction to the beginning of construction.

• Create/maintain organized estimate files.

• Take responsibility for all preconstruction correspondence with all involved parties, including bid invitations, requests for information, addenda, and scope of work clarification.

• Establish a complete understanding of the project scope of work related to the request for proposal.

• Create comprehensive estimates with detailed line items appropriate for the scope of work of each project.

• Solicit accurate pricing from qualified subcontractors/vendors/suppliers to ensure competitive coverage of each line item in the estimate.

• Organize project site visits if necessary to define the scope and familiarity with the project.

• Define/confirm the scope of work for each subcontractor, vendor, and supplier and produce certified written scope sheets.

• Submit proposals in a professional and timely manner.

• Generate and maintain good customer relations.

  Job Requirements:

• Track record of managing multiple projects simultaneously

• Estimating software experience, Trimble Accubid Enterprise Software preferably.

• Proficiency with MS Word and Excel

• Able to read and understand civil, architectural, structural, and mechanical plans and specifications including blueprints, proposals, and other documents as they relate to work.

• Excellent communication and organizational skills

• Associate degree or relevant work experience will be considered.

• A minimum of 5 + years estimating experience or 5+ years of welding/installation experience.
