Role: Unix/Linux System Engineer 

Location: Irvine CA 

Duration: Full time 

  Requirements: 

• BS Degree 

• 8+ years sysadmin experience 

  Skills and Experience : 

• Expert in Solaris and Redhat Linux OS, in both physical and virtual implementations 

• OS design, installation, configuration, and support in an Enterprise environment. 

• OS patching analysis and execution. 

• User account and authentication management. 

• Kernel tuning and performance optimization. 

• Capacity planning and monitoring. 

• Managing file systems, local, SAN/NAS, NFS. 

• Creation and support of backup and recovery policies. 

• Definition and implementation of technical security policies. 

• Shell script creation and maintenance. 

• Cron job management. 

• Network configurations, physical and virtual. 

• Host based firewall configuration. 

• Network concepts including routing, vlan, tcp/udp, port-channel, trunk, load balancing. 

• Network protocols such as NTP, NFS, DNS, DHCP, SMTP, SNMP, SSH, etc. 

• Veritas File System. 

• Research of new technologies including software and hardware, based on technical and business requirements. 

• Assist developers in implementing changes in non-production environments. 

• Document operational processes and procedures. 

• Provide level 3 support to triage and troubleshoot incidents. 

• Participate in on-call rotation. 

• Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment . 

• Ability to work independently and identify opportunities for process improvement. 

• Desire to learn new skills, take on new tasks as needed, and work as part of a team. 

• Strong communications skills, verbal, written, and presentation. 

• Adept at MS Office suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio .
