Robert Half Sr. Accountant in Nashville, Tennessee

Description We are on the lookout for a diligent Sr. Accountant to be a part of our team in Nashville, Tennessee. This role involves maintaining financial, accounting, and grant support services tailored to meet the needs of our organization. The primary focus of this role is on compliance, reporting, variance analysis functions, actual vs. budget reporting, reviewing/monitoring of grants and transactions for compliance with all federal and non-federal requirements, billing, journal entries, and forecasting.

Responsibilities:

• Offer financial, grant compliance, and project management support for programs funded through various foundation, federal, state, and local sources.

• Conduct monthly grants invoicing, reconciliations, and reporting as needed.

• Prepare accurate and timely financial reporting to funders as required, in collaboration with the data department.

• Prepare and analyze financial records on grants for internal management purposes.

• Maintain records of grant invoicing and status.

• Communicate monthly financial results to program staff, informing them of the financial position of the project and award balances.

• Assist in preparing budgets for new grants, renewals, and revisions.

• Support annual audit as well as grant/project audits.

• Read and summarize relevant information in grant contracts.

• Evaluate and recommend improvements in accounting system procedures to ensure the accurate application of accounting principles.

• Perform account reconciliation, balance sheet reconciliation, bank reconciliations, and maintain general ledger.

• Prepare journal entries and handle month-end close procedures.

• Utilize Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP to perform tasks efficiently. Requirements

• Proven proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations

• Experience with General Ledger management and Journal Entries

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel

• Experience in Month End Close procedures

• Knowledge and experience in using NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP accounting software

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and in a team environment

• Strong attention to detail and accuracy

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines

• Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and standards

• Professional certification, such as CPA, is a plus.
