Timber Products Company Supervisor I Particle Board/Lab Tech - multiple openings in Medford, Oregon

POSITION SUMMARY

Timber Products is looking for candidates interested in joining our leadership team at our Particleboard mill in Medford, OR. As a Supervisor I/Lab Tech, you will learn and then assume the duties of a quality control lab technician, as well as front line leadership. This position provides coverage for both shift Quality Assurance and front line supervision. Progression leads to a Supervisor II position, after the candidate successfully completes all aspects of our training programs and demonstrates proficiency in leadership skills and process knowledge.

Must be open to work any shift.

MAJOR TASKS

• Conduct panel testing; participate in research and development projects, thickness control, moisture content, panel density profile, and equipment calibrations.

• Identify and communicate process upsets.

• Work in conjunction with all supervisory personnel to learn all aspects of particleboard manufacturing process.

• Maintain quality control standards to maximize company profitability.

• Supervise production crews as assigned, once successfully trained and exhibits proficiency in leadership skills and process knowledge.

• Cover supervisor vacations and vacancies as necessary, and completes special projects as assigned.

• Follow and ensures all employees follow company safety program and safety standards.

• Consistently enforce all company policies and procedures. Ensure accurate interpretation and application of the labor agreement.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS

• Two years of QA/supervisory experience in wood products or other manufacturing environments preferred, but not required.

• A BS Degree in Wood Sciences, BS or AS in manufacturing or related field is preferred, but not required.

• Strong written and oral communication skills. Must be a TEAM oriented player.

• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

• Leadership and motivational skills that allow candidates to achieve productivity, quality and safety goals.

• Basic computer skills in Word, Excel and Access.
