Glasstream Powerboats Carpenter (OJT) in Dothan, Alabama

Position Overview

Carpenter/Wood Shop Technician Job Duties: Fabrication, wood working/carpentry experience is required. Trim/finish carpentry experience is a plus but no required. Ability to install doors, bullheads, hatches, according to Glasstream specifications. Ability to use and read a tape measure. Ability to follow blueprint instructions. Experience in trim finish, in auto or the marine field is a plus but is not required. Should be able to use common tools including a router, saws, and sanders. Experience with finishing products.

Physical Requirements

  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements could include dust masks, gloves, and chemical resistant suits.
  • Ability to work a 10+ hour shift standing, bending, reaching.
  • Moderate lifting ability up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in a non-climate-controlled environment.
  • Ability to work in a fiberglass dust environment and a fast-paced, noisy environment.
  • Ability to work overtime (planned and unplanned).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required Must follow all safety standards and procedures, including chemical handling standards and Personal Protective Equipment Must adhere to all quality standards and adhere to new standards as processes evolve. Must demonstrate record of dependability and reliability with prior work or professional experience. Must demonstrate the ability to work well with teams, professional or otherwise. Understand and follow verbal and written directions. Ability to use hand, battery, and pneumatic tools.

  • High school diploma or GED required.

** While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
