About the role

The purpose of this position is to implement and lead HSE (Health, Safety and Environmental) programs relative to a large corporate account.

What you'll do

  • Ensure compliance to the local legal register in respect to statutory assets and general Health & Safety across the account.

  • Review Job Hazard Assessments, provide feedback, and consider how risks can be reduced.

  • Support the development of safe operational procedures, identifying and taking into account relevant hazards.

  • Complete frequent workplace / health & safety inspections. Review completed inspections and track all actions / non-conformances.

  • Review existing processes and procedures providing guidance and support to close any gaps and improve documentation.

  • Monitor a sample of work activities and provide guidance on safe work to reduce risks.

  • Over-see investigations ensuring that all actions are fully implemented to help prevent similar events. Maintain a formal record of all accidents or incidents.

  • Support in-house training with managers and employees to raise staff awareness of issues and risks.

  • Produce management reports newsletters and general communications

  • Support Project delivery to improve and manage Health & Safety issues

  • Provide guidance and advice on a range of Health & Safety topics including: permit to work, fire regulations, noise, working at height, access equipment, hot works, water hygiene, confined spaces, and management and safe disposal of all hazardous substances.

  • Ensure that Emergency Preparedness Documentation is available and up to date.

What you'll need

  • Bachelors degree (BA/BS) in HSE from four-year college or university.

  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state and local health & safety, and environmental regulation. Direct experience working with regulatory agencies and / or compliance officers is preferred.

  • As required by local authority. Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Hazardous Material Manager (CHMM), Occupational Health and Safety Technician (OHST) - Preferred
