Allegany County - Human Resources EMT Ambulance Attendant (Emergency Medical Technician Ambulance Attendant) in Cumberland, Maryland
Allegany County seeks applicants for full-time and part-time positions in the Department of Emergency Services. These positions report to the Chief of Emergency Medical Services, and are responsible for providing firefighting, basic, and/or advanced life support emergency medical services to ill or injured persons. Additional responsibilities include driving firefighting apparatus or an ambulance; communicating with the dispatch center, patients, family members, and health care professionals; conducting public educational programs on first aid and fire safety; and conducting administrative and maintenance functions as assigned.
Testing and interviews for these positions will establish eligibility lists for current and potential future hiring. Unsuccessful past applicants must reapply for consideration.
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent. Current Maryland and National certification (where required) in field including any required supplemental certifications. Experience in responding to emergency incidents; supervisory experience in a fire or EMS capacity or related field is desirable; and pertinent volunteer emergency response experience is beneficial. Must also possess map reading skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and ability to work well with volunteer and career personnel in various stations and settings, and ability to maintain strict confidentiality. Valid Drivers License and eligibility for coverage under the Countys motor vehicle insurance policy.

SALARY AND BENEFITS
Starting hourly rates vary by position, ranging from $18.66 to $22.43. Full-time positions include the complete County benefit package including health and life insurance, paid leave, and pension.
