JOB SUMMARY

Controls Engineer who under the guidance of management, develops new engineering design of a basic to moderate complexity and is capable of leading automation Projects.

Gathers design requirements and recommends/executes steps to implement basic to moderate and complex Automation designs.

Implementation or design modifications of existing product.

Perform and analyze basic to moderate circuit design, referring more c omplex issues to management or more senior team members.

Develop subsystem architecture at the direction of a Sr. Engineer or above.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Gather information relating to hardware and software solutions and recommends basic/advanced improvements to designs.

  • Read/Create/Understand URS (User-Required Specifications) and FDS (Functional Design Specifications).

  • Provide onsite technical support for Engineers and all manufacturing builds including prototypes, NPI & production releases.

  • Develop with limited supervision embedded hardware design and PCB layout designs utilizing standard tools.

  • Evaluates with system architects to review and clarify design requirements and architecture.

  • Evaluates/selects electronic components and determines suitability and usability for panel building that meet standard requirements and specifications.

  • Integration and functional testing of Software and Hardware Controls systems; PLC, Industrial PCs, I/O modules, Automation Networking and Communications.

  • Analyzes Electronic Circuits with moderate complexity and can improve or update the design.

  • Under the guidance of more senior team members, assembles prototypes, design first powerup, design debug and functional circuit verification.

  • Works with and manages external component suppliers/manufacturers.

  • Conducts and administers SAT, FAT, commissioning.

  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS

    KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

    ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Working knowledge of the Industrial Automation, regulatory and safety standards related to Controls and Automation. NEC, UL, IEC, IEEE, OSHA, NFPA, CE.

  • PLC Programming: Ladder Logic, Structured Text (Beckhoff, Allen Bradley, Mitsubishi, Keyence) and Safety PLC (Omron)

  • Mechanical Aptitude, hands-on work

  • Computer & Automation Networks: Knowledge of TCP/IP and interconnecting controls devices and software platforms.

  • Knowledge of Robot Programming.

  • Documentation and Process Change Control management.

    NICE TO HAVE SKILLS:

  • Working Knowledge of the Semiconductors Industry

  • Knowledge of Quality management Systems

  • AutoCAD / SolidWorks Electrical.

  • Beckhoff TwinCAT, TwinSafe, EtherCAT

  • Programming in general and proficiency in C#, C++, vb.NET.

  • Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence.

  • Vision Systems and Optical Sensors (Cognex, Keyence, etc.)

  • Robot Programming: Omron, JEL, Denso, Abb, Kawasaki, Fanuc

  • Good Documentation Practices.

    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Electronics/Electrical Engineering Degree (BSEE/MSEE or equivalent experience)

  • 5+ years experience in Controls design and implementation and Automation in general

  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience

The pay range for this role is $91,250 - $164,250. Job-related, non-discriminatory factors used to determine the actual offered rate include qualifications and experience, geographic location, education, external market data, and consideration of internal equity.
