SUMMARY

The Lead, B2C Flagship Content oversees the strategic development and execution of SHRM’s B2C flagship properties. This role requires an innovative content strategist who can effectively manage content initiatives tailored to SHRM’s B2C audiences and specialized topics relevant to them. The Lead will be instrumental in orchestrating compelling content narratives across multiple channels and in conjunction with other cross-functional teams including newsletters, podcasts, online content, video series, audio clips, social media packages, and more. This position requires an individual with a strong editorial background, expert stakeholder management skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across teams to enhance SHRM’s industry standing through exceptional B2C content.

Responsibilities:

  • Strategy Development: Design and implement comprehensive content strategies for flagship projects that engage targeted B2C audiences and amplify SHRM’s brand.

  • Content Creation and Oversight: Lead the creation, development, and editing of content across various formats such as articles, video scripts, and podcast outlines ensuring consistency and quality.

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to develop strategies that leverage flagship content to its fullest potential and ensure cohesive, consistent messaging across platforms and campaigns.

  • Project Management: Collaborate closely with agencies, freelancers, and internal stakeholders to produce and refine content, including tracking expenses against a budget.

  • Ideation: Conceive, pitch, and execute in-depth enterprise stories that offer unique insights into the inner workings of major corporations, emerging industries, and transformative business trends.

  • Innovation: Stay ahead of industry developments, economic trends, and global events to evolve content strategies and include emerging media and technologies to enhance audience engagement.

  • Relationship Building: Cultivate relationships with industry insiders, corporate leaders, and subject matter experts to gain access to exclusive information and perspectives.

  • Performance Metrics: Monitor and report on the performance of content initiatives against goals, utilizing data to drive better engagement and reach.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Business, or a related field.

  • Minimum six (6) years of experience in content strategy and creation, specifically with B2C audiences, with a portfolio demonstrating exceptional storytelling ability prowess.

  • Extensive experience covering enterprise topics, corporate affairs, or business trends for a reputable media outlet, business publication, or news organization.

  • A history of generating external buzz around content and building audiences.

  • Proven track record of managing large-scale content projects across multiple channels.

  • Experience in leading a team of content creators and collaborating with cross-functional teams.

  • Experience with digital media, SEO, social media marketing, and content management systems.  

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Expert understanding of content marketing strategies and market segmentation.

  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills, coupled with a knack for storytelling.

  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to distill complex information into clear, compelling narratives that resonate with a diverse audience.

  • Proficiency in digital media tools, multimedia storytelling techniques, and content management systems, Adobe Experience Manager preferred.

  • A deep understanding of business principles, economic concepts, and corporate dynamics, especially the role of HR departments.

  • An entrepreneurial mindset with a history of initiating innovative ideas and fostering collaborative opportunities.

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting to shifting priorities.

  • Demonstrated proficiency in successful project management.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Passionate about SHRM's mission and committed to advancing the HR profession

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Capable of performing essential duties with reasonable accommodations.

  • Work involves sitting, talking, hearing, and typing, with visual acuity required for keyboard usage, data analysis, and computer terminal operation.

  • Occasional light lifting may be necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Work is regularly performed in a combination of office and conference settings and routinely uses standard office equipment.

  • Expected office presence of 3 days per week.

  • Minimal travel requirements, less than 10%

The hiring range for this position is $93,000 to $115,000 per year. This range is an estimate, and the actual salary may vary based on the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications. SHRM offers a competitive and comprehensive total rewards package.
