The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking a Maintenance Craftsman. This position will be located at our Clearwater Fish Hatchery located in Ahsahka, Idaho. This position is an 8-month benefited temporary position and will work forty hours a week. Work schedules may include weekends and holidays.

General Information:

Incumbents may work in all weather conditions. This position also involves, with or without reasonable accommodations, physical activities associated with construction work such as lifting and carrying items weighing approximately 90 pounds, bending, stooping, climbing ladders, and working at heights of up to approximately 50 feet.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine inspections of hatchery facility, residences, premises, and equipment.

  • Perform preventative maintenance.

  • Handle basic repairs and maintenance including but not limited to painting, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, grounds/landscaping, cleaning, and organizing.

  • Oversee contractors when professional repairs are necessary.

  • Diagnose mechanical issues and correct them.

  • Repair tools, equipment, or structures as necessary.

  • Operate equipment such as pressure washers, lawnmowers, weed eaters, forklifts, manlifts, ATVs/UTVs, snowmobiles, boats, and backhoes.

    Minimum Qualifications: (These qualifications are required.)

  • Some knowledge of heating and cooling system maintenance and repair. (Typically gained by at least six months of experience performing general duties in this area or completion of a vocational-technology course(s) in this area)

  • Experience performing semi-skilled maintenance and repair involving carpentry, plumbing, electrical and general building maintenance trades work. (Typically gained by at least six months of experience performing general duties in this area or completion of a vocational-technology course(s) in this area)

  • Experience using and maintaining tools and equipment normally associated with carpentry mechanics, plumbing, and electrical work. (Typically gained by at least six months of experience performing general duties in this area or completion of a vocational-technology course(s) in this area)

Minimum Qualification Specialty: (Required for the current opening)

  • Valid driver’s license
